The 2021 Society Convention was held in Leadville, after a 1 year delay due to Covid in 2020. This was the Society's 4th visit to Leadville. Perhaps due to the Leadville 100 taking up most of the hotel accommodations and lingering COVID concerns only 28 members attended this year. Still, a good time was had by all. Registration was Thursday morning at the Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad depot.

After lunch, the group enjoyed a comprehensive tour of the fabulous Tabor Opera House, from the dressing rooms below the stage and all the way up to the nosebleed seats. The afternoon was topped off with a visit to the excellent Leadville Mining Museum. Dinner and the evening program were at the Leadville Elks Lodge, the 3rd time those good folks have hosted us. A highlight of the evening was Tom Lawson being inducted into the Society Hall of Fame for all his hard work organizing our volunteers, coordinating with the BNSF railroad to obtain ties, and his generosity in donating track bolts, tools and other supplies.

Friday morning, the group was treated to a tour of the LC&S roundhouse. Next up was a ride on the original DSP&P grade on the LC&S from Leadville to Fremont Pass. Friday night we were treated to a wonderful buffet dinner from Chris Cervantes and his assistant Vivian at the Leadville C&S Freight House. After dinner our host Elsa Tharp told us the history of the of the freight house along with the details of its fabulous refurbishment into a modern event center. On Saturday the group moved to Como for Boreas Pass Railroad Day.

The 2022 convention will be in Gunnison, Thursday-Friday-Saturday, August 4-5-6.
