2007 Convention Model Contest - Idaho Springs, CO

Although models have been displayed at most of our Conventions, 2007 was the first year that cash prizes were awarded to the models.  This was divided into six classes.   Locomotives – Freight Cars – Passenger Cars – Maintenance of Way – Caboose – Structures.  Not all classes were represented this time but plans were laid for the next time around.

Tim Dannels’ F Scale Mason Bogie #5, the Leadville.  Scratch built from the myLargescale.com website.

Another Mason Bogie by Duncan Harvey.  This one the San Juan in HOn3 for a contrast in size.

The South Park was famous for its Mason Bogies.  Only natural that this would be a favorite form of motive power for the South Park modeler. HOn3

The South Park Zephyr modeled in HOn3 by Bob Schoppe.  Proof the Rio Grande Southern wasn’t the only railroad with neat railcars.

Master brass craftsman Dan Windolph displayed his scratch built parlor coach in On3 with complete interior details.  What, no running water?

The short lived Argentine Central was closely associated with the C&S narrow gauge system so this On3 Shay by Dan Abbott was eligible for the contest.

To round out the various scales modeled, Dan Kempf brought this excellent rendition of the Idaho Springs depot all the way from Michigan.  Sn3 is Dan’s scale.
